Fido is welcome in dog friendly Nova Scotia

Hello everyone! This is Joan Sinden – I live in Nova Scotia - and it actually is really FIDO Friendly magazine!

I have a website called “Charlie loves Halifax” – which I’ve had since 2002 and it’s all about working towards a Fido Friendly Halifax – which is our capital city – it’s at Charlie Loves Halifax- and it lists all the local businesses that you can take your dog shopping with you and all the local resources – along with a lot of local parks that are fun to go to. It’s not a commercial site at all – I’ve done it simply because I believe that by giving Fido friendly businesses access to dog owners, they’ll realize what a great niche they have and more businesses will become Fido friendly.

I have a page called “tips for dog friendly businesses” – at Charlie Loves Halifax Tips – and tons of other pages about being FIDO Friendly .

There is almost no BSL (breed-specific legislation) in Nova Scotia except for a few. Overall, Nova Scotia loves all breeds of dogs and we actually have rescues dedicated to being railroads bringing banned dogs from Ontario here as well as dogs who would die in gas chambers in the States up here as well. Our last (and only) gas chamber was officially shut down last year – and our provincial SPCA has declared our province to be a “no kill province”and follows the ideals of Nathan Winograd” – which I think is an important thing to mention – because a lot of animal welfare organizations that are mandated to enforce animal laws don’t also embrace a no kill philosophy.

And to top it off – Nova Scotia is totally beautiful! We have tons of beds and breakfasts and Inns that are Fido friendly – and over the years because of my website I’ve had people actually email me because they were moving here because it was such a great place for being with their dogs.
